MUSIC: The Prayer- Celine Dion/Andrea Bocelli
Estella Ogbonna is the brain behind ESTELLA Couture. A natural talent in fashion. She has a unique talent that is is admirable and excellent. She started her career in Community Development heading projects targeted at enhancing the lives of HIV/AIDS Orphans and their caregivers.
Her major passion is
community development, fashion designing was just one of
her
hobbies.
From an early age, she has always been enthralled with
designing dresses that uniquely stood out.
Her major inspiration in her designs are mostly African locally made hand-woven fabrics that are original, ethnic, cultural, exotic , traditional and native.
She is quick to point out to you that her talents are from God because even though she noticed at an early age that she has unique creative and designing talents, she never had a chance to economically harness them because as she as she did not go to any sewing school or training before she started sewing.
Her academic record spans from two diploma degrees in (Special Education for the Hearing handicaps, and Computer Science), to two Bachelors degrees in Computer Network Administration, and Psychology, and also two almost completed MBA (Marketing) and MPA (Non-Profit Management) programmes.
She has spent over 20 years in community development. From tasks such as reading to blind students when she was just 15 years to working as Project Officer and Manager in diverse Internationally-funded projects related to Women Empowerment, Women Health Right Issues, working to achieve change in communities with HIV/AIDS Orphans, Estella has shown the passion she has for making positive changes around her. She volunteers at her church and to lots of other non-profit organizations. You can find her clothing line appearing on some community fund-raising event's runways to add glamour and color to their cause if she believes in and supports it, (mostly women health rights, girl-child education, care of orphans and widows, and assisting the less privileged).
Estella is a multi-talented person, and this shows in her designs as they ultimately stand out, because she incorporates a lot of imaginations and originality in her works. This multi-talented young lady is not only creative in fashion, she is also a creative writer and TV Producer/Presenter. Having a passion for writing and a flare for Television. With all her creative talents, one is not surprised that her designs stand out on runways across the world. Earning her numerous standing ovations whenever she takes the Designer Walk after showing her ever-changing "FUSION OF COLORS" collections. She says colors and patterns on any fabric is what inspires her to create her very unique and original couture designs.
One thing is certain at all EC fashion shows, there would be 'FUSION OF COLORS' of different exotic, and ethnic fabrics and patterns all exquisitely designed and styled into haute couture and runway ensemble that trendy, fashionable and classy people can wear to any occasion irrespective of their race. EC designs are creating a new universal appreciation and awareness of African fabrics versatility and ways they can be worn for that elegant and uniquely clothed feeling.
From her collection of casual wears to her Red Carpet Collection, bridal wears, haute couture, sports outfits, home decor, she adds class and glamour to her clients and has carved a niche for herself in the fashion industry. (Photo by Trish Hamilton)
